Central Bank Cuts Rates to 19% — Lowest Since Mid-2023

The Central Bank of Egypt cut key interest rates by 100 basis points to 19% in February 2026, bringing borrowing costs to their lowest level since July 2023, according to Trading Economics. Annual urban inflation had eased to 11.9% in January, supporting the decision.

Falling rates historically push savings out of deposits and into real assets in Egypt. If the easing cycle continues, both primary and resale demand — and installment affordability — stand to benefit.
