Mortgage Lending Keeps Growing, Led by NBE and Banque Misr
Egypt's mortgage market continues to grow, with National Bank of Egypt leading at around EGP 21.3bn in cumulative mortgage financing (roughly a 23% market share) followed closely by Banque Misr, according to figures cited in Global Property Guide's 2026 Egypt analysis. Mortgage companies have also extended billions in subsidised loans to low- and middle-income beneficiaries.
Bank mortgages still finance a small share of transactions compared with developer installments — but every rate cut narrows that gap, and a deeper mortgage market would be transformative for resale liquidity, since resale units can't offer developer plans.
